The problem
Project IUoC makes free Islamic educational videos across topics such as Quran, science, philosophy and psychology. YouTube remains the distribution channel, but it is not a useful catalogue: series are hard to browse, individual lectures are not organised for discovery, and a video title is a poor way to find a subject you want to study.

Built the website and live mobile app independently as unpaid volunteer work.

The public site: a landing page, lecture library, series pages, support information and a page for the live mobile app.

A searchable video and playlist catalogue backed by Convex, with an individual, indexable page for each lecture so it can be shared and discovered outside YouTube.
- 03
Automatic YouTube catalogue ingestion that keeps video and playlist metadata current while preserving the team's hand-curated ordering, visibility and tags.

An architectural library entrance, emerald-and-gold reading surfaces, and a simpler native-scroll entrance on mobile.

The companion mobile app, built independently with Expo and React Native, including a Quran reader and everyday tools.

A catalogue,
not just a feed.
The website gathers lectures and series into a searchable collection. Automated YouTube ingestion updates metadata while the team retains curated ordering, visibility and tags.

The website also includes a Quran reader with translations, tajweed colouring and bookmarks. Readers can share a verse as an image or link directly to an ayah.

Decisions worth explaining
Why it works
this way.
Use YouTube for video delivery rather than rebuild a video host. Lessons play inside the website through embedded playback, with a separate link to watch on YouTube.
Treat YouTube as a source of metadata, not the source of editorial judgement. Automated ingestion can update a title or thumbnail; the team still decides which material is visible, featured and grouped together.
